My name is Patty. I am passionate about God and about exercise in its many forms. I am 58 years old, married for 37 years to a wonderful man, have 8 children (2 being wonderful son-in-laws) – the youngest are twins that are 17. Within the past year, I decided to run with my daughter, as she was training for a marathon – being the good mom that I am!! This is my journey from non-runner to runner and beyond . . . I’m not sure what is next, but I’m sure that God knows and he will lead and guide me in this journey called life.
“. . . let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1
Hi Patty!
I have been reading your articles just recently. I live near you and would love to run some of these same trails that you have already run. Any possible way you could post directions to the starting points?
Thanks so much!
Nick F
I would be glad to Nick. There are several ways to get to the trails. I’ll post them soon. Thanks for reading my blog. 🙂
Hi Nick,
There are two lakes that I like to run around. One is Sly Park Lake or sometimes called Jenkinson Lake, which is off Hiway 50. You turn off at the Sly Park Road Exit and drive down about 4ish miles. You will see the Lake on your left. Go past the Lake and turn left on Mormon Immigrant Trail. Park near the second dam and follow the fence on the right side of the dam around – the trail is right there and it goes around the lake. The trail can be confusing. Keep your eyes out for signs and arrows on the asphalt. Try to stay near the lake as possible. There is also a bike trail that can get confusing. The other trail is around Lake Natoma in Folsom. You can either park at the Fish Hatchery on Hazel Ave. or go into Folsom, near Karen’s Bakery and park. The trail is right there. Happy Running.
